About Me

My name is Sofie Daley, my pronouns are she/her, and I am an over-thinker. I am chronically curious, deeply passionate about telling stories, and headstrong on process over product. I maintain that theatre is for everyone.

As a designer, my strength is my attention to detail and attention to the current culture. I have a strong preference for telling stories about modern issues, and with modern voices.

Putting empathy at the forefront, I like to build realities audiences can relate to and bend them when I can. I like to play with the subconscious. I like to play with psychology. I like to work closely with actors to play with bodily preconceptions.

In portraying people, I aim to be political, because people are political.

My foundation as a stage manager has made me an avid organizer, consistent communicator, and fuels my belief that the story of the theatrical production extends to the stories of the people making it. To me, the how is equally important as the why.

Today, I am aspiring to grow my strengths as a designer for television and theatre, keep the inspiration flowing, and create new systems and processes to individualize each story I tell.
